Children’s Programs can use thousands of pounds of clean, reusable materials from ending up in the Regional District landfill. All kinds of treasures donated by local businesses and individuals are the perfect low-cost option for art projects, costumes, decorations, and other creative endeavors. The Nelson & District Community Complex accepts pre-approved clean and safe re-useable materials from businesses and individuals during our regular business hours. Materials Wish List: Doweling or bamboo | Rope | | plastic flowers | large coffee - vegtable cans (clean) | | cardboard egg cartons | 2 L soda containers with lids | | magazines or catalogs | construction paper | Buttons | Tissue paper | Ribbon | Wire | Fabric, vinyl or colorful and shiny materials | Musical instrument parts - Piano, etc. | Film canisters | CDS | Cards & Calendars | pine cones | Shoe Boxes or small cardboard boxes | Wooden/plastic picture frames – 5X7 to 11X17 | Clean plastic container tops – all sizes, ex: pop tops or milk jug tops | Art supplies – clean paint brushes, glue, paints: watercolor/tempura/acrylic | Plastic tubing | magnets | Small glass jars w lids – baby food or jam type | Clean empty Tetra juice packs large and small | Baskets | Springs – no rust | Colored tape | X-rays | Maps | Feathers | Clean plastic bags, i.e. colorful shopping bags | Unique and interesting doo dads | Colorful jewelry | Bicycle parts, i.e- wheels | Matte board | Cotton balls |
