EARTH HOUR

This year, the RDCK will once again participate in Earth Hour by turning off all non-essential lighting and electronics at its head office on March 31st, 2012 from 8:30 - 9:30 pm. Earth Hour is an inspirational, world wide event that encourages families, businesses, and institutions to think about their impact on the planet and to make positive steps towards energy conservation.

Earth Hour started in 2007 in Sydney, Australia with 2.2 million homes and businesses turning their lights off for one hour. It has grown into a global symbolic climate change initiative. In 2012 at 8:30pm on March 31, it’s expected that hundreds of millions of people from more than 135 countries and territories will turn their lights off for Earth Hour.

Join your neighbours and the RDCK by participating in Earth Hour. Register your pledge with FortisBC for a chance to win prizes!
