LocationThe system is located on Lucas Road, directly adjacent to the City of SourceThe residents of Lucas Road were initially serviced by wells and surface sources. The City of System descriptionThis system was rebuilt in 1989 and converted to a RDCK service at that time. TreatmentWater delivered to Lucas Road households, as with all households served by the City of StorageThe Lucas Road system consists only of a distribution network and does not have any storage capacity. Distribution systemThe system includes 430 metres of polyethylene pipe. Reports suggest that this infrastructure is nearing half its useful lifespan. Fire-fightingThe distribution system does not include any fire fighting infrastructure and is not designed for fire protection according to the Fire Underwriter Survey. Lucas Road, however, is located in a Fire Protection Service Area. Significant issuesTo reduce administrative, operation, and maintenance costs, the Lucas Road system could benefit over the long term by amalgamating with the Castlegar water system. Plans for future upgradesIn order to allow for regular flushing of the distribution system, the RDCK plans to install a blow off standpipe at the end of the mainline in the near future. GovernanceThis system is currently owned and operated by the RDCK. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
