On October 30, 2006, staff from the Regional District of Central Kootenay, Department of Fisheries and Oceans, Transport Canada, Ministry of Environment and Integrated Land Management Bureau held a public information meeting to present an overview of current regulations on lakeshore development.

On January 12, 2007, staff from Columbia Basin Trust, FortisBC, BC Hydro, Columbia Power Corporation, Ministry of Environment, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Environment Canada, US Army Corps of Engineers, US Fish & Wildlife Service and the Regionald District of Central Kootenay held an information session on Kootenay Lake Levels.
